Whereas, the Navajoland Area Mission was created in 1976 to bring together the congregations in Navajoland for unity, self-determination and partnership in mission; and

Whereas, a proposal has been received from the Convocation of the Episcopal Church in Navajoland requesting continuing opportunity for growth in those areas; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 69th General Convention support the proposal from the Convocation with gratitude for the life and mission of the Episcopal Church in Navajoland; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention declare its readiness to affirm the election and consecration as Bishop someone so called and nominated by the Episcopal Church in Navajoland.

Bishop Putnam, the retired Bishop of Navajoland, announced "with tears of holy joy" that the House of Deputies had overwhelmingly concurred with the Bishops' decision on the Navajoland Resolution (B003) and that "this brings joy to us and to the Navajo people."
