Resolved, That this General Convention of the Episcopal Church urge the President and Congress of the United States to act to protect the families and children of this country from the failure to succeed in working their way out of poverty, by discontinuing the practice of defunding households of welfare benefits as soon as they begin to earn money or receive financial gift; and be it further

Resolved, That the text and explanation of this action also be conveyed to the Honorable Tony Hall, chairman of the Select Committee on Hunger of the House of Representatives; and be it further

Resolved, That the Washington Office of the Episcopal Church be advised of this action and called upon to actively represent this position to the members of Congress as regards pertinent legislation coming before the Houses of the Congress.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That this General Convention of the Episcopal Church urge the President of the United States and his administration to act to protect the families and children of this country from the failure to succeed in working their way out of poverty, by discontinuing the practice of defunding households of welfare benefits as soon as they begin to earn money or receive financial gift; and be it further

Resolved, That the text and explanation of this action also be conveyed to the Honorable Tony Hall, chairman of the Select Committee on Hunger of the House of Representatives; and be it further

Resolved, That the Washington Office of the Episcopal Church be advised of this action and called upon to actively represent this position to the members of Congress as regards pertinent legislation coming before the houses of the Congress.
