The Rev. Canon T. Christian Nelson, retired priest of the Diocese of Montana, died Aug. 17, in Deer Lodge, MT. He was 74.

Canon Nelson was born in New Brunswick, NJ. He held a master's degree in civil engineering from Cornell University. He graduated from Philadelphia Divinity School in 1956 and was ordained priest later that year. He served St. Matthew's, Glendive, and St. Luke's, Billings, MT; Christ Church, Mandan, ND; and St. James', Deer Lodge, MT. He was named honorary canon of Gethsemane Cathedral, Fargo, ND, and retired in 1987. Canon Nelson is survived by his wife, Joann, six children, and 20 grandchildren.
