Coretta Scott King will be one of the speakers at three joint sessions
of the Episcopal House of Deputies and the House of Bishops in New Orleans in
September. She is founding president and chief executive officer of The Martin Luther
King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Atlanta. The Center continues her late
husband's nonviolent program of social, political and economic justice throughout the
world. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, King was a concert singer
when she met and married Martin Luther King, Jr. She has received many honors and
awards in recognition of her support of humanitarian causes. She will speak to the
General Convention on Sept. 8.
