Church Advocate presents case against Bishop Walter.
Bishop Stephen H. Jecko of the Diocese of Florida (right) confers with Hugo Blankingship,
retired chancellor of the Diocese of Virginia, who served as Church Advocate at the one-day
hearing, February 27, in Wilmington, Delaware, before the Court for the Trial of a Bishop.
Jecko is one of 10 bishops who brought a presentment against Bishop Walter Righter, retired
bishop of Iowa, charging that Righter held and taught false doctrine and violated his
ordination vows when he ordained a non-celibate homosexual as a deacon in 1990 and signed
documents supporting such ordinations. (Episcopal News Service photo by James H. Thrall)
