Nuevo Amanecer
Vision, Mission in Action
Nuevo Amanecer, a biennial conference co-sponsored by the Episcopal Church's Office of Latino/Hispanic Ministries, will be held Nov. 14 – 17 at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
The conference will offer strategies, ideas, tools, and a network of support for starting and strengthening Latino/Hispanic congregations while nurturing a vibrant cultural identity.
Keynote speakers for the conference will be the Rev. Alberto Cutié and the Rev. Miguelina Espinal.
Clergy, diocesan missioners, parish staff, church planters and lay leaders are invited to expand their knowledge by sharing best practices and exploring new methods of stewardship, church growth and evangelism.
According to the conference website, participants can expect to learn ways to become involved in Latino ministry even if they don't speak Spanish; to meet, network and share information with others who are interested in Latino ministry; to find encouragement and resources for developing and sustaining Latino ministry in their own congregations; and to consider such topics as the impact of legislation, community relations and local issues.
'Nuevo Amanecer will bring together seasoned lay and clergy leadership of the church as well as persons just embarking in the ministry," says the Rev. Canon Anthony Guillén, the Episcopal Church's missioner for Latino/Hispanic ministry. "We will learn from each other and be inspired as we take the next steps in growing our church communities. This conference will empower leaders and will provide tools to develop an efficient and productive framework for Latino/Hispanic ministry."
Workshop topics include: Building a framework for ministry; equipping God's people for leadership; telling the church's story in the age of technology.
