Clergy Deployment Office Reports

NEW YORK, N. Y. -- "More than two thirds of the 8,500 active clergy of the Episcopal Church are now registered in the manpower system of the Clergy Deployment Office. "
This is part of the report made by the Rev. Roddey Reid, Jr., Executive Director, to the Clergy Deployment Board, which met in Chicago in October. The Rt. Rev. John Burt, Chairman, says that the Board considers that its first task, the establishment of a data bank on the clergy, is now an accepted part of the life of the Church. "We have supplied clergy profiles for over half of the 852 full time vacancies of the Church in our first year of operation," the Bishop noted. " In all, 3,326 profiles were distributed."
In view of the initial enrollment success, the Clergy Deployment Office is now planning to work closely with the Diocesan Deployment Representatives to inform them of the many capabilities of the system, and to assist them in increasing the effectiveness of the total deployment process.
The Clergy Deployment Office reminds all clergy that, except for seminarians and the newly ordained, there is a deadline, December 31, 1972, for submitting new data. After that time a service charge of $12.50 will be in effect.
