The Rt. Rev. E. Don Taylor, bishop of the Virgin Islands, has been appointed the assistant bishop of New York by Bishop Richard F. Grein of New York. Taylor, who accepted Grein's invitation January 21, will resign his position in the Virgin Islands effective April 30 and will assume his appointment on May 1, 1994. Taylor was born, educated and served his early ministry in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1973, he came to the United States and has served parishes in New York and Georgia. He was elected bishop of the Virgin Islands seven years ago.

The Rt. Rev. Ivol J. Curtis, bishop of the Diocese of Olympia from 1964 until 1976, died March 2 following a stroke. He was 86. Curtis served as suffragan bishop of Los Angeles before his election as bishop of Olympia. He attended the 1968 Lambeth Conference in London, hosted the 1967 General Convention in Seattle, and served for six years as president of Province 8.
