WCC FUNDS HOUSE DISASTER VICTIMS

On October 18 an entire new village - a total of 306 homes - was dedicated in Iran. The new community of Esmatabad, built at a cost of $450, 000, is a gift of churches around the world given through the World Council of Churches. All the villagers who will live in the new houses are Muslims. Among those present at the dedication was the Rt. Rev. Hassan Debqani-Tafti, Anglican Bishop of Iran.

The World Council of Churches also plans to help rehouse victims of the tragic dam disaster in the Italian Dolomites and has already ordered ten houses which will form the nucleus of a new village to be constructed as funds are made available. The new village will be situated at Cimolais on the opposite side of the mountain from the disaster area.
