Resolved, That the 70th General Convention of The Episcopal Church request the 71st General Convention to affirm and celebrate the ministries of women in all orders of this church; and be it further

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 70th General Convention of the Episcopal Church request the 71st General Convention to affirm and celebrate the ordination of women to the diaconate, the priesthood, and the episcopate; and be it further

Resolved, That the opening Eucharistic liturgy of the 1994 General Convention celebrate the Special Occasion of 20 years of women as priests in the Episcopal Church; and be it further

Resolved, That special prayers and thanksgivings be developed and distributed by the Standing Liturgical Commission for inclusion in the Prayers of the People on the Sunday closest to July 29, 1994.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

In the first Resolved:

in the phrase "the Episcopal Church," capitalize the word "the";

strike the words "ordination of women to the diaconate, the priesthood, and the episcopate" and add the words "ministries of women in all orders of this church."

In the second Resolved:

strike the words "the opening" and add the words "a special";

replace "Eucharistic" with "Eucharist" and strike the word "liturgy".

strike the words "the Special Occasion of 20 years of women as priests in the Episcopal Church"; and add the words "the ministry of ordained women in all orders of this Church";

strike the words"; and be it further".

Delete the third resolve in its entirety.

Deputy Sullivan of Virginia moved an amendment.

Proposed Amendment:

In the second Resolved, change the word "ministry" to "ministries" and delete the word "ordained".

The amendment was accepted by the Committee.

Deputy Freeman of Southwestern Virginia moved an amendment.

Proposed Amendment:

Following the word "women" add the words "and men".
