House of Deputies

The Committee on Prayer Book and Liturgy presented its Report #5 on HB Message #93 on Resolution A080a (Approve Commemorations for Liturgical Calendar), moved the resolution, and recommended concurrence.

Upon the question being raised in the House, the Parliamentarian explained that the first Resolved clause of A080, being a second reading on a revision to the Book of Common Prayer, must be voted on by orders. However, the second Resolved clause (the amendment of the House of Bishops to change the commemoration of William Law from April 9 to 10), was a first reading.

Deputy Renton of California moved to divide the two Resolved clauses, which was accepted by the Chair.

Deputy Crowley of New York moved to reconsider the vote on the second Resolved clause.

The Parliamentarian said that the Crowley motion was in order after the Vote By Orders on the first Resolved clause.

A Vote By Orders was taken on the first Resolved clause of Resolution A080 (Approve Commemorations for Liturgical Calendar) as amended (Ballot #8).
