Resolved, That the 74th General Convention support the World Council of Churches' Decade to Overcome Violence and its work with other faith communities—in this nation and around the world—to persuade governments to embrace less violent foreign policies, to encourage individuals and parishes to pray for peace, and to take political action to oppose foreign policies that are grounded in violence; and be it further
Resolved, That the 74th General Convention call on our nation to reconsider fundamentally the foreign policy it has thus far advanced, calling upon our leaders to employ diplomacy rather than warfare.

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 74th General Convention support the World Council of Churches' Decade to Overcome Violence and its work with other faith communities in this nation and around the world, to persuade governments to embrace less violent foreign policies, to encourage individuals and parishes to pray for peace and to take political action to oppose foreign policies that are grounded in violence; and be it further
Resolved, That the 74th General Convention call on our nation to reconsider fundamentally the foreign policy it has thus far advanced, calling upon our leaders to employ diplomacy rather than warfare, and specifically upon President Bush to cease aggression against other countries.
Deputy Downie of Eastern Michigan moved an amendment.
