Legislative Action Taken: Concurred as Amended
Final Text:

Resolved, That the 75th General Convention authorize the use of the following Proposed Burial Rites for Adults, to be added to the Enriching our Worship Series, for the 2006–2009 triennium, under the direction of the diocesan bishop or ecclesiastical authority; and be it further

Resolved, That the proposed liturgies be changed as follows from the “Blue Book” report:

  • [Blue Book, page 204 (second prayer, middle of the page)]:

We have entrusted N. to God’s mercy, and we commit her body to the ground [or to be cremated], earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Savior Jesus Christ, who died and is risen, and who at his coming in glory, will transform our bodies so that they may be conformed to his glorious body. To Christ be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
