Resolved, That the 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church of 2012 urges the U.S. President and the Congress to approve a serious multi-faceted program as a solution to the current intolerable level of unemployment in this country; and be it further
Resolved, That such a multi-faceted program should include:
A. A bold new federal program, solely focused on the creation of new jobs:
- Creating a long-term plan to rebuild the nation’s
infrastructure.
- Moving to a greener economy, generating new manufacturing within the United States.
B. Increased funding for job-training programs both in basic education and in vocational training for those unprepared for the current job market; strengthening employable skills programs in community colleges and increasing the number of those completing four-year college programs.
