Resolved, That the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church join with the ratifying and acceding governments of the United Nations and supporting organizations in the United States in endorsing the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women; and be it further Resolved, That the Council ask the Presiding Bishop to urge the Public Ministries Cluster to monitor legislative activity, provide education to legislators as necessary and to advocate for the ratification of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women by the legislative bodies of the United States government; and be it further Resolved, That the Council ask the Presiding Bishop to direct the Church Center staff to develop and implement strategies which will enable the Church to carry out the articles of the Convention. |
