Claypool was asked to give the prestigious Lyman Beecher series of  lectures at Yale Divinity School. His lectures address what it is to be a preacher. In his third of these lectures, he answers the question, “How?.” How does  a preacher carry out his responsibility as a minister in an authentic way?  His answer to this question is that one uses his/her own first-hand experiences and “woundedness” to help the “woundedness” of others.
